Dunajec river winds through the limestone rocks which reach 300 m in height almost all the way through the gorge.
End rafting in Szczawnica and enjoy scenic drive through mountainous area of Poland. Before we reach Zakopane, the region’s best-known town, we will go off-the beaten-track to have a short stop to take pictures of the best vistas of the Tatra Mountains. In Zakopane you will have approximately 3 hours of free time to stroll around and find best examples of old wooden villas, ride up the Gubałówka Hill or taste delicious local cuisine and famous oscypek cheese. Take a break from the city buzz and spend a day close to nature, discovering Poland’s most beautiful landscapes. Meet your driver and head southwards, towards the Pieniny National Park, the oldest and one of the smallest national parks in our country. It is famous for its impressive white limestone rocks which go down towards the Dunajec river. You will admire them from the best perspective — rafting downstream on a traditional wooden raft. Although the park has a relatively small area, it is home to hundreds of species of plants and several thousands of animal species, including the lynx, the otter or the black stork.
Trips on a wooden raft have been the region’s most popular attraction for almost 200 years and today it attracts about 250 000 tourist every year. You will board a traditional wooden raft in a small village Sromowce Wyżne to start your journey through the most stunning part of the gorge which extends between Sromowce and Szczawnica. Take in the views of numerous steep white limestone slopes covered with lush vegetation and pass by key landmarks such as the Trzy Korony summit, the Sokolica summit and the medieval Red Monastery which is on the Slovak riverbank. Sometimes you can even catch a glimpse of the high peaks of the Tatra Mountains.
Once you arrive in Szczawnica, you will meet your driver and start the journey towards Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains. Enjoy picturesque drive through the montainous area and take pictures of the scenery when we stop at the viewing point.
You will have 3 hours of free time in Zakopane to explore the city, its typical wooden architecture and the local folklore it is famous for. Walk along the promenade Krupówki, shop handicrafts at a regional market and discover old wooden villas build even more than 100 years ago where you can still feel the unique charm of an old climatic health resort. Don’t forget to try delicious oscypek cheese or kwaśnica soup if you head to a regional restaurant for dinner and go to the top of Gubałówka Hill for an impressive view of the mountains.
After the day full of adventures we will return to Kraków.
We will meet you at selected pick-up point at the pick-up time which is confirmed on your ticket. In case of any delay, you will be notified by our team. We recommend to appear at the meeting point at least 5 minutes before departure.
Our vehicles are easy to recognize as there is Visit Kraków sign on the exterior or on the dashboard of the bus. Our English-speaking driver or tour leader will scan your ticket before boarding the bus. Both paper and electronic tickets are accepted.
Our journey to Sromowce Wyżne will take approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.
Upon arrival, you will join a group and board a traditional wooden raft which has a maximum capacity of 12 passengers to start you rafting downstream the winding Dunajec river. You will be rafting among almost 300-meter high limestone rocks along the Polish-Slovak border for approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes until you reach Szczawnica, a well-known old resort town, where you will meet your tour leader.
We will leave Szczawnica and the Pieniny National Park behind to enjoy a scenic drive towards Zakopane. We will have a short stop to take pictures from one of the best viewing point local people know about!
The journey will take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Once we reach Zakopane, you will enjoy 3 hours of free time. You can stroll around the town to discover beautiful old wooden villas, taste local cuisine at a traditional restaurant, shop at the local market or use the ticket you will receive from your tour leader to get to the top of the Gubałówka Hill by funicular. When the free time is over, you will meet your tour leader at a predetermined time and return to Kraków. The journey will take about 2 hours.
